Last week Matt hosted his final graduation for Y@P—his last of twelve years of Y@P graduations! We’re so grateful Jesus called him to serve at Papanui. Matt has sought to participate in what Jesus is up to in the lives of the youth here in Papanui. As we search for a new Youth Pastor, we are seeking someone who has the same desire—someone who believes God is active in the lives of young people. We’ve been advertising the role for a few weeks now. With our distinct roles, the elders (in governance) and co-pastors (in management) are starting to explore one applicant in particular. Due to the convictions, strengths, and giftings of this applicant, we are considering that the role will be youth focused, but with a wider scope of involvement in church leadership. If that is the case, we will need to explore the details more (including job title) and what the process of being appointed would be. This applicant is visiting in the near future to meet with youth, youth leaders, co-pastors, and elders, during which time we hope to get a sense of God’s call (or otherwise!). In the meantime, we are still open to other applicants, so we’re still very open handed about it all. A big emphasis we have when looking at applicants is their desire to connect Y@P with the wider church, so that youth have their voice heard here. We are looking forward to seeing who God raises up and what the role will look like. We’ll spend some time praying about it together in the service on Sunday, and we’d appreciate your ongoing prayer support.
