This week we’re approaching the end of our game of Guess Who through the first half of Mark’s Gospel. We’ve been rediscovering the identity of Jesus the Messiah through his various encounters with the “clean” and “unclean” people of Galilee and its neighbouring regions, allowing his words and behaviour to reorient us in our understanding of who the Messiah really is; we’re allowing Jesus to surprise us once again! This week we come to the penultimate passage of the series, when Jesus and the disciples enter Caesarea Philippi and he asks them, “Who do you say I am?” In light of all we’ve read and talked about, how would you answer that? Who’s the “Messiah” to you now? Then, next Sunday Pamela will bring the series to a close with a bit of forecasting to the second half of the Gospel, where Mark tells us how Jesus became the Messiah. After that, we’ll turn to the book of Hebrews!
Ngā mihi nui,
Elliot and Sarah
P.S. This Sunday we have morning tea!
