In this weeks living lent they have argued despite the economic odds being stacked against poor and vulnerable communities, there are actions that we can take from here in New Zealand that have a direct impact both on the injustices we have been looking into within the fashion industry and similar injustices. Some companies take care to ensure their supply chain operates in ways which cause the least harm to people and the planet.
Here are some sources to help you find out who they are: Conscious Consumers provides an accreditation service to hospitality businesses looking to improve their ethical rating. Shop Ethical provides information on the environmental and social practices of companies across food, electronics, household supplies and other industries. Fairtrade and Rainforest Alliance certify companies on ethical practice. Baptist World Aid in Australia produces ethical guides which rate the practices of different fashion and electronics brands, most of which are also available in New Zealand.
