For those who missed it, on Sunday we shared the bittersweet news that our wonderful Associate Pastor Margaret will be retiring from her role at Papanui Baptist as of October 28th.

Margaret shared briefly about her journey toward this decision over the last few years, and about what’s next for her and Philip—a well-earned summer stint in the caravan, before returning to Christchurch and Papanui Baptist sometime in the new year to begin retired life.

Until then, though, Margaret continues in her role as usual, which includes overseeing our Neighbourhood and Ngage Groups and pastoral care. Given this announcement, coupled with the continued vacancy of the Youth Pastor role (note: Josiah is currently employed 8hrs a week as our Youth Intern, overseeing Y@P until Nov 16th while he completes his Laidlaw studies), we have some decisions to make about staffing at Papanui as we look toward 2019 and beyond!

We’re not rushing this process, and we’ll be considering different possibilities with the elders over the next few months. Please continue to pray for us as we consider the shape of our staff team moving into the future, and for Margaret as she continues in her role while preparing for her retirement. We’ll be doing the farewell stuff properly at a date closer to the time.
