Last night we had the first of our six-week Neighbourhoods Grow Nights with Duane Major and his friends from the various neighbourhood communities from South West Baptist Church. The place was buzzing! We’re getting a bit of a “taste and see” experience as we hear lots of different stories (the good and the bad) from different people’s time in these intentional neighbourhood communities. We get the sense this is a highly significant moment for us as a church. Together we’re seeking Jesus in prayer and conversation, asking what it means for us to participate in his love for our neighbourhoods—to share the same good news in a new and changing context. The Spirit is speaking to us as a church and to each of us individually, daring us to take next steps in our walk with him, with each other, and with our world for the sake of his good news. If you missed it, you’re not too late: please do join us next Tuesday night, 7-9pm.

In other news, Sarah has now arrived in Suva, Fiji, where she’s already beginning interviews for her Masters research project. She’s there for the week before she heads round to the Coral Coast where she’ll spend the month observing the operations of an indigenous iTaukei restaurant. Please keep her in your prayers as she adjusts to life in this new environment for the next five weeks, and for us as we have the first four weeks of this time apart (Elliot will join her in September for a week).

Ngā mihi nui,

Elliot and Sarah
