Throughout the ‘Being Baptist’ series we have talked about how we gather as a community of believers under Christ’s reign (christocracy). We take seriously Matthew 18.20, ‘for where two or three gather in my name, there am I with them.’ Last Sunday we had a panel who reflected on the series and grow course of ‘Being Papanui Baptist church.’ Jesus made his way in the service and we faithfully followed his leading. Saunoa spoke of how important it is for her to read scripture in Samoan and invited us all into a more united way of being. This was affirmed by people who stood up and responded. As a community, we stand with Saunoa and those who share their heart language with us. What does it look like to continue on this journey? To be a community where what unites us is Jesus, whether His name is said in Korean, Dutch, Farsi or English. On Sunday we embodied what has been talked about and wasn’t it good?
