Possibilities for Church
I’ve loved gathering together for worship these last few weeks. We’re seeing more of one another’s faces through our changed seating plan. We’re taking the time to share with one another during the service. Two weeks ago, we worshiped without a music team, and instead took time to take a posture of worship. Some of us kneeled, others stood with arms out wide, and still, others sat with eyes closed in quiet reflection as people prayed out loud, sang spontaneously, and read psalms of praise. This church is hungry for God!As a staff team, we’ve just been reading this article from the Baptist Magazine by Mike Crudge. He writes for churches like ours as we continue into this new season post-lockdown, echoing what many of us have been saying: “I hope there is no going back to what was.” It’s full of great ideas about changes we might consider for our Sunday gatherings, with the view that “people do what they see.” As you read the article, which idea stands out to you? We’d love to hear your feedback! Either jump on to our Papanui Baptist Church Community Facebook group and comment on the post there or send me an email. And why not take the chance to discuss this in your small group?

A couple of weeks ago we put out this “Opportunities to Serve at Papanui Baptist” flyer, listing a bunch of spaces for you to get your hands dirty tending the soil of our gathered community. Have you considered how you might be able to serve our church? Please let us know—many hands make light work!
