Earlier this year I participated in a workshop where one of the topics was building trust in our workplaces. In an environment with the increasing use of electronic communications, it was interesting to note that one of the key aspects involved in building trust is eye contact and physical proximity. It reminded me of the beginning of the first letter to John –“That which was from the beginning, which we have heard, which we have seen with our eyes, which we have looked at and our hands have touched -this we proclaim concerning the Word of life.”

2018 has provided us with many shared experiences. We have celebrated baptisms, newcomers, significant anniversaries and wonderful morning teas. We have shared in bereavements, health concerns, family hardships, and employment issues. Through it all, we have been able to grow together in trust -in a faithful God, and with each other.

In Advent we recognise God stepping into the human experience.  Jesus lived amongst the people, and as we seek to make a difference in our church and in our neighbourhood communities, it is through building trusting relationships we can share the love of God evidenced so completely in Jesus.
