We enjoyed a great retreat with the elders and spouses over the weekend, staying at the beautiful Te Waiora House in Hororata. Over the retreat we got to know one another better over meals, spent time dwelling in 1 John, had lengthy and profitable discussions about what it means for the people of Papanui Baptist to participate in Christ’s love for our neighbourhoods, and shared communion. We’ll give feedback from the weekend in the near future (date TBC) to share some of what we’ve sensed God leading us in. Thanks for your prayers over this time, and to Jeremy and Margaret for leading the Sunday Gathering.

This coming Sunday will be a special time as we celebrate the baptisms of five of our young people—Bri A., Bre D., Shontae, Ethan, and Jack. During the service we’ll hear their testimonies, baptise them in the name of the Father, Son, and Spirit, sing songs of praise together, spend time praying and encouraging each of them in their decision for Christ, and welcoming them into the whanau of Papanui Baptist over morning tea. We each have a role to play in their lives, just as we welcome them to play a role in our lives. Please be on extra alert for newcomers in our midst—may we be seen to be a community of love, participating in the abundant love of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit!
