Sunday Gathering: This Sunday we’re privileged to have John Tucker, Principal of Carey Baptist College bringing the message: “Absolutely Positively Baptist: Why I Love the Baptist Movement.” John’s an outstanding communicator—you don’t want to miss this!

Elliot’s Sabbatical: As many of you are aware, in November Elliot is headed to San Diego, USA to attend the annual meetings of the Evangelical Theological Society (Nov 20-22) and the American Academy of Religion (Nov 23-26), and will be presenting a paper based on his Masters thesis at AAR. It is a significant opportunity for him to present and to engage with some of the best theological scholarship in the world face-to-face. We deeply believe in the relevance of theology for pastoral ministry, believing that good theology can equip people for a more faithful engagement in their workplace, lifestyle, self-worth, relationships, and care for the world. We’re looking forward to how these meetings will further fuel our work at Papanui Baptist.

In order to prepare well for his presentation, Elliot’s beginning a four-week Sabbatical next week, during which time he won’t be accessible, until he returns to work on December 10th. In the meantime, Sarah will continue to lead, supported by Colleen and the staff. Sarah is continuing with her own studies too, working towards the completion of her Masters thesis over November and early December. We’re looking forward to how this research will continue to equip Papanui Baptist for mission!
