Today is Ash Wednesday, which marks the beginning of Lent (the 40 days leading up to Easter Sunday). Around the world, many Christians still remember this day by drawing the image of the cross on their forehead out of ash, and wearing this symbol throughout the day! This season reminds us of the weeks leading up to the Passion of Jesus, as he set his face towards Jerusalem. “For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many” (Mark 10:45). It also reminds us that our Messiah calls his followers on the same path: “Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross and follow me” (Matt 16:24). This Lenten season, how is the Holy Spirit inviting you to serve? How can you simplify your day, creating more space for the Master to use you for his glory?
